Follow along as I share some simple ideas for outdoor fall displays. It’s also a great place to add some curb appeal. Decorating our front porches is a great way to welcome visitors to our home. There’s nothing elaborate or fancy here, our ideas take on more of a rustic look than refined, with maybe just a touch of farmhouse style. And, really any other place in the gardens or yard that’s visible to visitors or passersby. My favorite place to decorate is my tiny front porch and along the sidewalk leading to the porch. Don’t you just love the crisp cool air, pumpkins, scarecrows, sweatsuits, apples, leaves and the colors of the season? Best of all, I love to decorate outdoors for Fall by creating cute little vignettes or groupings of junk with a fall theme. Want to see more of my home dressed for fall? Your next stop on your tour is the home of Charming in Charlotte. You don’t want anything that might further attract them to your home! I give it a day before squirrels are attacking my decorations! Our city squirrels are like the Rats of NIMH. Those cute dried corncobs are going to have to come off the stalks. I haven’t decorated with corn shocks in several years and am so glad that I splurged on them this year! They add so much texture and interest to a fall porch. White mums are fluffy and beautiful! I think they make an excellent complement to dried hydrangeas. I love the tiny but mighty details of decorating! Above my door, I placed faux painted pumpkins and attached them to the ledge with some painter’s tape. I deliberately created a smile of hydrangeas, leaving some of the grapevine wreath exposed. My grapevine hydrangea wreath took around 5 minutes to create! Simply stick the woody stems of your dried hydrangeas into the grapevine and continue until satisfied. Don’t be afraid to mix your real pumpkins with your faux. I used a combination of real blue cinderella pumpkins, a few real but painted pumpkins, and a few painted but faux pumpkins. I kept the fall colors and textures the same out here but simply added more blues to accentuate the blue on my front door and porch ceiling.Īlthough I love traditional fall colors, I like to vary my decorating from year to year. Dried limelight hydrangeas and pumpkins in shades of blues and creams are a great way to add non-traditional fall colors to your space. However, this year I really wanted the front porch to feel like a cohesive extension of the interior. When decorating my outdoor spaces, sometimes I like to create a completely different look and feel than what I have going on inside the home. Our porch used to be painted red and green, and this year was the first time I was able to decorate it in its new gray and blue color palette. I shared my fall home tour last week, so today I thought I would give you some fall porch decorating ideas. I adore fall porches and was so excited to decorate ours this year. If you are stopping by from my friend Melissa’s at The Inspired Room, welcome! Her home is as lovely as she is, so be sure to check out her fall photos. I just had the privilege of seeing Lindsay at a BHG event in NYC last week. Happy first day of autumn! Today I am joining the fall tour hosted by Lindsay from White Buffalo Styling Co.
